Hull City to make checks on key striker ahead of Preston North End trip

Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has said Aaron Connolly will be assessed ahead of this weekend.

Hull City are back in action with an away trip to Deepdale to face Preston North End in the Championship.

Connolly, 24, picked up a dead leg last weekend against West Brom and will have to be checked.

Rosenior has provided this update on his situation, as per a report by HullLive: “Aaron had a dead leg after the game on Saturday, so he wasn’t able to get any minutes on Tuesday, which is a disappointment for us, so we’ll have to assess him. I think he’ll be fit for the game, it’s not a serious one, but at the same time, he’s got a dead leg and they’re not nice.”

Hull will be hoping that Connolly is fit enough to make the squad at least for Preston as he provides a useful option at the top end of the pitch. If not, they have Billy Sharp or Noah Ohio to pick from with Manchester City loan man Liam Delap still sidelined.

Rosenior has opted to lead the line with either Ozan Tufan or Abdulkadir Omur over recent fixtures and has a decision to make as to how to approach the upcoming fixture.

Connolly spent the second-half of last season on loan with the Tigers from Brighton and Hove Albion before his switch to East Yorkshire was made permanent last summer.

He has since scored eight goals in 28 games so far this term for the East Yorkshire outfit.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has nine caps under his belt so far in his career, was on the books at the AMEX Stadium from 2016 to 2023 and played 52 times for the Seagulls, as well as having loan spells away at Luton Town, Middlesbrough and Venezia.

Connolly has found a home at Hull over recent times but is out of contract at the end of this campaign.

The Tigers are 6th in the table as they eye promotion to the Premier League and are unbeaten in their last four matches.
