Huddersfield Town vs Leeds United: 5 players who could dictate the game tomorrow

Huddersfield vs Leeds United takes place in the Championship on Saturday afternoon. Here, we look at five players who could dictate the game…

Leeds United travel the short hop down the M62 to face Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon. They’ll be hoping to continue their impressive form having won their last nine Championship games on the spin.

Daniel Farke’s side will be wanting to make that 10 consecutive wins against their West Yorkshire rivals. This hot streak of form has seen them move to 2nd in the Championship table.

As the Championship side most in form, many are expecting a repeat of the reverse fixture. This game saw Farke’s side steamroller a sorry Huddersfield Town outfit. However, the Terriers have been a much improved side of late. Under new boss André Breitenreiter, they are moving away from the relegation zone and picking up key wins.

Here, we look at five players who could dictate the Huddersfield Town vs Leeds United game…

Georginio Rutter

Rutter has proven too much for many Championship sides to handle. The French youngster glides with the ball and his eye for a pass makes him a danger for any side. He is also incredibly difficult to knock off the ball.

If Huddersfield Town do not close him down fast enough, then they will allow Rutter to wreak havoc. There was doubt over his fitness after missing out against Chelsea, but it appears that he is going to feature against the Terriers.

Tom Lees

Former Leeds United defender Lees will need to have a big game on Saturday against his old club. He plays on the left side of a back three and will likely be facing Wilfried Gnonto.

Gnonto is in form at the moment and the Huddersfield Town man will need to be wary of this. However, he will need to remain calm and play as part of a solid unit to limit Leeds United chances.

Crysencio Summerville

Dutchman Summerville is still just 22. However, the youngster is a definite star in the making.

He is having a great season for Leeds United in with 15 goals and eight assists. His pace is enough to scare any defender and once he gets beyond them and the afterburners come on, he is often long gone down the touchline or inside.

Like Rutter though, there was a question mark over his fitness, but he is another one set to play.

Who is this?

Jack Rudoni

Central midfielder Rudoni is going to be a key player for Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon. He has five goals and two assists in 25 Championship games so far this season.

The Terriers will need his threat in the centre of the park. They will also need him to help police a Leeds United midfield where Glen Kamara and possibly Archie Gray will sparkle.

Patrick Bamford

Bamford was Leeds United’s chief goal threat the first season they were promoted back to the Premier League. However, he is a much more nuanced player than that. That was clear to see in the Whites’ late comeback over Leicester City.

It was Bamford’s introduction that gave the Foxes problems. He makes clever runs, drags players out of position, and makes it that man-marking is a must and not zonal marking. In other words, he makes demands on the opposition that require answers and fixes.
