‘Made to pay’ – Wrexham vs Accrington Stanley prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Wrexham vs Accrington Stanley prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday.

Wrexham drew 1-1 away at Forest Green Rovers in their last League Two match. Striker Paul Mullin scored a late equaliser.

Phil Parkinson’s side are aiming for automatic promotion to League One this season. They are currently sat in 4th place in the table.

As for Accrington Stanley, they were relegated from the third tier last term. John Coleman’s men are 15th but are only five points off the play-offs.

They lost 2-1 away at Walsall on Tuesday night. Jack Nolan got their goal from the penalty spot against the Saddlers.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

“This won’t be an easy game for Wrexham and I can see Accrington Stanley causing them some problems at the Racecourse Ground.

The Red Dragons are in a strong position though as they chase down the likes of Mansfield Town, Stockport County and Crewe Alexandra.

They have a lot of depth in their squad and should have too much quality in the end to win this weekend. It will be close but I can see the hosts sneaking an important win here, with Paul Mullin potentially getting the winner.”

“The League Two promotion race remains wide open as the leading pack struggle to pull away. Wrexham have missed multiple opportunities to move clear of their faltering rivals with poor form of their own, and a continuation of that could see them made to pay.

“All season they’ve been stronger at home than they have away, and that should play into their hands in this one.

“It’s not been a great season for Accrington Stanley but the tightly-packed League Two table means even they are still in with a shot of earning a play-off finish. That said, I do think they’ll be beaten here.”
