‘So much at stake’ – AFC Wimbledon vs MK Dons prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their AFC Wimbledon vs MK Dons prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday afternoon.

AFC Wimbledon come into this weekend’s clash with bitter rivals MK Dons looking to get back on form. The Dons are four without a win in League Two and have drawn a blank in front of goal in three of those games.

Johnnie Jackson’s side are only four points off the play-offs in a tightly-packed League Two table. However, they need to find form if they’re to break into the top seven in the last 12 games.

MK Dons meanwhile are up in 5th, holding a seven-point gap to the chasing pack. They’ve lost one of their last five games after defeating Newport County 3-0 in their last outing.

Mike Williamson and co will be keen to secure all three points, boasting bragging rights over their rivals while potentially closing the gap to the automatic promotion spots too.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

AFC Wimbledon have maintained a decent home record amid this recent run but were defeated on their own turf by Crawley Town, so with arch rivals and promotion candidates MK Dons up next, they’ll be determined to claim what would be a big win.

“The hosts can take encouragement from the fact that the visitors are very much beatable. They’ve lost three of their last five away games without scoring, but they are on a good run at the moment.

“It’s tough to call with so much at stake, but I think I have to go for an MK Dons win.”

AFC Wimbledon aren’t in the best of form. They are winless in their last four games and have won once in their last six outings.

“Nevertheless, they are still only four points off the play-offs so still very much have something to play for between now and the end of the season.

As for MK Dons, they remain in the race for automatic promotion. They won 3-0 at home to Newport County last time out and will be in confident mood.

I can see the visitors just sneaking this one.”
