Popular Sheffield Wednesday man has admirers from other clubs

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has admirers from other Championship clubs, as detailed in a report by The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday could face a battle to keep hold of their popular manager at the end of this season.

Rohl, 34, moved to the South Yorkshire outfit in October and became the youngest coach in the Football League in the process after he was picked as Xisco Munoz’s replacement.

As per The Star, his work at Hillsborough hasn’t gone unnoticed and other second tier teams have been alerted.

Sheffield Wednesday’s chances of keeping Rohl are likely to depend on what league they are in next term.

They are currently sat in 23rd place in the Championship table and are in the drop zone with Rotherham United and Stoke City.

The Owls have won their last two games on the spin though against Millwall and Bristol City and are only three points from safety with 12 games left of the campaign to play, starting with a short trip to the New York Stadium this weekend to face the Millers.

Rohl was a defender in his playing days for the likes of FSV Zwickau, FC Sachsen Leipzig II and FC Eilenburg before delving into the coaching world.

He started out at RB Leipzig before stints at Southampton, Bayern Munich and the German national team. He was number two to Hansi Flick with the latter two.

Sheffield Wednesday gave him his first number one role and he has taken his opportunity with both hands. He has won 10 of his 26 games in charge of the South Yorkshire outfit as he looks to help them avoid dropping back into League One.
