Norwich City attacker wanted permanently by loan club this summer

Fortuna Dusseldorf boss Daniel Thioune has said he wants to sign Norwich City loan man Christos Tzolis on a permanent basis this summer.

Norwich City let the winger join the Bundesliga.2 side on a temporary basis running until the end of the season last August.

Tzolis, 22, has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far in this campaign and has scored 13 goals.

In this latest update regarding his situation, Thioune has told German news outlet Bild: “I would be happy if I could see him again in a red and white jersey in the summer. That would be cool. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him.

“Everything else and what happens next… I think his decision to come here was the right one. Regardless of how things turn out for us as a team. But I would like to continue working with him.”

Latest on Norwich City man

Tzolis is under contract at Norwich until June 2026. However, he has struggled to make an impact since moving to England.

Getting him off the books permanently in the next transfer window would help free up space and funds in their squad and could suit all parties involved.

Dusseldorf are sat in 7th place in the German second tier and still have an outside chance of gaining promotion this term. It is likely that they would need to be in the Bundesliga to stand a strong chance of landing him.

Tzolis has already been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach and Wolfsburg recently, as per Greek outlet Sport24 (via the Pink Un).

The Greece international, who has 13 caps under his belt so far in his career, joined Norwich back in 2021 as a youngster from PAOK.

He has since played 30 games for the Canaries, 13 of which have come in the Championship. The Thessaloniki-born man was also loaned out to FC Twente in Holland before heading to Dusseldorf last year.
