Free agent eyed by Oxford United and Salford City joins League One side

Wycombe Wanderers have snapped up goalkeeper Nathan Shepperd on a free transfer following his exit from Dundalk, as announced by their official club website.

Wycombe Wanderers threw the stopper straight into their squad for their League One clash against Cheltenham Town last night as they ran out 2-0 winners after late goals by Joe Low and Bez Lubala.

Shepperd, 23, cut ties with Dundalk in January following the expiration of his contract and was eyed by Oxford United and Salford City earlier this month, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke on X.

In this latest update regarding his situation, the Chairboys have now confirmed that they have landed him and he has been handed the number 29 shirt.

New face at Wycombe Wanderers

Shepperd will give Wycombe more competition and depth between the sticks and will compete with Franco Ravizzoli and Max Stryjek for their number one spot. He is a decent age and has the potential to develop in the future.

The ‘keeper started his career at Swansea City and rose up through the academy ranks of the Championship side. He was a regular for the Swans at various youth levels but never made a senior appearance for the Welsh outfit.

Brentford signed him back in 2019 and he played for the B team of the London club during his two years at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The ex-Wales youth international then moved over to Ireland to link up with Dundalk.

Shepperd enjoyed his time with the Lilywhites and made 79 appearances in all competitions. His most recent club finished 5th last year before he left.

Despite links to Oxford and Salford, he has now moved to Adams Park. Wycombe are sat in 14th place and are back in action this weekend against Barnsley at home.
