The 3 Barrow players who may not play for the club again

Barrow are locked in the midst of a race for the play-offs this season with the League Two standings wide open at the top end of the table with anyone above 17th spot genuinely in the running for a top seven finish.

Barrow are locked in the midst of a race for the play-offs this season with the League Two standings wide open at the top end of the table.

Barrow currently sit within those allusive positions, occupying 6th place in the League Two table despite not playing at the weekend. The Bluebirds’ main focus will of course be maintaining their spot in the rankings, but they will also almost certainly have an eye on their plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Pete Wild’s side are likely to see a number of players head for the exit doors at the end of the season, some of which might have already played their last game for the club.

With that in mind, we look at three players who might fall into that category…

Owen Bray

Brought in on a one-year deal after impressing on trial with the B-team last summer, Bray came through the ranks at Leeds United before signing his first professional terms with Barrow in July.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who can also play on either flank, has failed to feature in League Two this season with all three of his appearances coming in the EFL Trophy. It would be a surprise to see the Irishman stay on beyond the terms of his current deal.

Josh Lillis

Signed following his release from Rochdale in 2020, Lillis joined the Bluebirds on a two-year deal as both a player and goalkeeper coach. His stay was extended by a year last summer and is set to expire at the end of the campaign.

The 36-year-old has made five appearances this season, two in the league and three in the BSM Trophy, but is firmly the back-up goalkeeper behind Paul Farman and is unlikely to feature again this campaign barring any injury to Barrow’s number one. If Farman stays fit, it could be that Lillis has played for the club for the last time.

Courtney Duffus

Also out of contract, and out on loan, Duffus has spent the second half of the season with National League outfit Hartlepool United after making just nine appearances before the January transfer window all towards the beginning of the campaign.

The 28-year-old has only featured three times in the fifth tier since making the switch and is unlikely to see his contract renewed at the SO Legal Stadium.
