The 3 Mansfield Town players who may not play for the club again

Mansfield Town are top of League Two after their 5-1 win against Salford City last time out.

Mansfield Town have leapfrogged Stockport County to reach the summit as they eye promotion to League One.

The Stags narrowly missed out on the play-offs last year.

Here is a look at three players who may have played their final game for the club…

Anthony Hartigan

Mansfield swooped to land the midfielder back in 2022 following his exit from fellow League Two side AFC Wimbledon. He has played 25 times for the Nottinghamshire outfit but has fallen out of favour, hence why he is currently out on loan at Barnet in the National League.

It is unlikely that he will force his way back into Nigel Clough’s plans, especially if they are promoted to the third tier this season and an exit on a permanent basis seems the most likely outcome this summer.

John-Joe O’Toole

The Stags let him leave for AFC Wimbledon in January on loan. He is due to return to Field Mill later this year but he is out of contract this summer.

He joined his parent club in 2021 and has made 58 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with three goals. At the age of 35, it would be a surprise to see his deal extended in June.

Who is this?

Rhys Oates

He has been ruled out with a long-term knee injury which is a real blow. Oates provides useful competition and depth to Mansfield’s attacking department.

It would be a shame if he has played his last game for the club and his focus at the moment will be on his road to recovery. His contract expires at the end of this campaign and the Stags have a big decision to make.
