Player returns to Bradford City following season-ending injury

Luke Hendrie has returned to Bradford City from his spell at Hartlepool United due to injury, as announced by his loan club.

Bradford City loaned the defender to the Pools last summer.

Hendrie, 29, has since made 23 appearances in all competitions for the National League outfit this season.

However, they have now confirmed he has picked up a hamstring injury that is expected to rule him out for the rest of this campaign and he has now gone back to Valley Parade for his rehabilitation program.

Hendrie’s setback is a blow for both him and Hartlepool and he will be eager to get back out on the pitch as soon as he can.

The full-back has been on the books at Bradford since 2022 and has played 22 times for the Yorkshire club in all competitions.

He wasn’t part of former boss Mark Hughes’ plans though, hence why he was allowed to spend this term with the Pools.

Hendrie is an experienced player in the Football League and has made over 250 appearances in his career to date.

He has had spells in the past at Derby County, Burnley, Shrewsbury Town and Grimsby Town.

His contract at Bradford is up at the end of this term and he is due to become a free agent in late June as things stand. His future is up in the air and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered an extension. In the meantime though, his focus will be on his recovery.

The Bantams are currently sat in 15th place in the League Two table and are five points off the play-offs. They saw their trip to Barrow postponed over the weekend.
