The72’s writers offer their Forest Green Rovers vs Wrexham prediction ahead of their League Two clash on Tuesday evening.

Forest Green Rovers head into this midweek encounter with Wrexham following an important victory over Tranmere Rovers, defining backs to the wall with a 1-0 win.

Charlie McCann’s effort on the stroke of half-time was enough to secure victory for Steve Cotterill’s men who once looked destined for relegation. Now though, they look capable of surviving, sat 23rd in the League Two table and four points away from safety.

Wrexham, on the other hand, were on the opposite side of that scoreline away to Gillingham, losing 1-0 at Priestfield Stadium and falling back out of the top three.

Timothee Dieng struck in the second half to put the Gills in front, with Phil Parkinson’s side unable to respond as they fell to a fourth defeat in their last seven fixtures in all competitions. The Red Dragons now sit 4th in League Two, two points off the automatic promotion spots.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Jacob Hackett

“Despite Forest Green’s improvement since Cotterill’s appointment in late January, there is a serious gulf in class between the two sides who meet on Tuesday.

Wrexham might have lost, but their performance was still at a high standard and they should feel confident of earning a result at the Bolt New Lawn if they produce a similar display.

“I expect Parkinson’s men to bounce back from defeat and boost their chances of achieving an automatic promotion spot, unfortunately for the Green that would be at the expense of their survival hopes.

“My prediction is a comfortable win for the away side.”

Who is this?

James Ray

“I really think Forest Green are capable of frustrating Wrexham here. They held on to a valuable win against Tranmere Rovers at the weekend and will be hoping to do the same again on Tuesday night.

“Phil Parkinson’s side have been struggling for form and on the road, they’re not the force they are at the Racecourse.

“That said though, I do think the visitors have the attacking firepower to overcome a motivated Rovers side. It might be closer than many would think, but I still believe Wrexham should get the job done.”
