‘Gaining momentum’ – Barrow vs Bradford City prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Barrow vs Bradford City prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday afternoon.

Barrow come into this weekend’s clash with Bradford City in need of an upturn in form. The Bluebirds have slipped to three consecutive League Two defeats and with the division so tightly-packed, they could slide downwards quickly.

Pete Wild’s side remain 6th in the League Two table as it stands, inside the play-offs. However, 8th placed Gillingham are only five points behind.

Bradford City meanwhile are right in the chasing pack for the top seven. While 13th, they’re two points away from 7th after claiming three straight wins without conceding.

The Bantams were beaten by Wycombe Wanderers in their EFL Trophy semi-final on Wednesday night but it was a strong display, and the future looks bright under Graham Alexander.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“It’s going to be interesting to see how this one pans out. Of course, Barrow are the side with the play-off spot in their hands, but Bradford City are a team really gaining momentum coming into this game.

“They were only narrowly beaten by Wycombe in the week and have now won the last three League Two games without conceding. With the hosts in contrasting form, I really think the visitors could get a big result here.

“I’m going for a 2-1 away win, though Barrow can certainly get something from this if they’re back on their game.”

Who is this?

Jacob Hackett

“This is bound to be an interesting one with the League Two play-off race so wide open, and it is genuinely a tough one to call.

“Having lost their last three games, Barrow have lost their grip on the top seven and going four games without a win would be inexcusable at the business end of the season.

“Bradford, however, are bound to be devastated following their cruel late defeat against Wycombe in the EFL Trophy semi-final, and how they respond to that will be key.

“I can see this being a pretty evenly matched encounter in truth, a draw seems fair.”
