The 3 players who may not play for Preston North End again

Preston North End are on the outskirts of the division’s top six and will be hoping to break into the play-off places between now and the end of the season.

Preston North End have not been in the Championship play-offs since 2009 and this year they will feel like they have a real chance. With 13 games left of the current campaign they are 9th in the table but just two points outside of the top six.

Regardless of what division they are playing their football in next season, there is work to be done in the summer. There are likely to be incomings but this means there could also be outgoings. With that in mind, we look at three players who may have already played their last game for the Lilywhites…

Patrick Bauer

The 31-year-old defender has been out of favour under Ryan Lowe this season, playing just once in the league. His contract is up in June later this year and so could move on from Deepdale.

Back in December Lowe commented that the Germany youth international could be loaned out in the January transfer window. However, nothing came to fruition. He may not play for Preston North End again.

Ched Evans

Perhaps a harsh one considering the striker’s personal health issues and that he is out with an injury. But given he is out of contract in June and hasn’t featured in the matchday squad since New Years’ Day, his days may be numbered in a Preston North End shirt.

In his absence the likes of Will Keane, Emil Riis, Milutin Osmajic and Layton Stewart have also moved ahead of him in the pecking order. Therefore, he may have already played his last game for the Lilywhites.

Ben Woodburn

Another player who is out of favour and out of contract in the summer is Woodburn. The forward hasn’t played more than 25 minutes in a game in the Championship this season, with the majority of his appearances from the bench coming beyond the 80th minute.

He isn’t a player who has made an impact as a substitute and certainly isn’t one of the first names on the teamsheet. Given he is just 24 he could be offered a new deal so they don’t lose him for free, but should he depart at the end of his contract he likely won’t be short of suitors.
