‘Turned a corner’ – Watford vs Millwall prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Watford vs Millwall prediction ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

Watford welcome Millwall to Vicarage Road on Saturday, with Valerien Ismael’s side looking to secure a third-straight win in the Championship.

The Hornets have beaten Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City in their last two outings, both by 1-0 scorelines, moving up into 15th place of the Championship table in the process.

Millwall meanwhile sit a place behind in 16th and have had a draw and a loss since Gary Rowett’s departure, losing 2-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers in midweek.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Luke Phelps

“Watford have definitely turned a corner in the past week or so. Whilst they’ve not been emphatic wins, they’ve been wins nonetheless and it’ll breed some much-needed confidence into the side.

“Millwall meanwhile are in a bit of a transition period at the moment. They’re waiting to find out who their next boss is and it seems like results aren’t the no.1 priority at the minute.

“But I think they’ll get a draw here, given the fact that they’ve been pretty solid on the road this season.”

Who is the current manager of Leicester City?

James Ray

“It’s an odd time for Millwall. They’re under the caretaker management of Adam Barrett but being between managers doesn’t make it particularly easy for the players, even if the boss in charge for the time being does have their own ideas and philosophy.

“That’s something Watford could pounce on having won two in a row. More has been expected of the Hornets after a poor start to the season and hopefully, they’re starting to gather some steam.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Millwall got something from this, but I’m going to go with another narrow Watford win. I’ll say 1-0 to the hosts.”
