The72’s writers offer their Stockport County vs Tranmere Rovers prediction ahead of the League Two clash on Saturday.
Stockport County are in fine form and sit top of the League Two table. They have won their last 10 games on the spin as they eye promotion to League One.
The Hatters beat Crewe Alexandra 2-0 away last time out. Striker Kyle Wootton and midfielder Will Collar were on the scoresheet against the Railwaymen.
As for Tranmere, they have struggled so far this season and find themselves down in 22nd place. Nigel Adkins remains in caretaker charge at Prenton Park.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Stockport have the strongest squad in the league and there’s no stopping them at the moment. They have some serious momentum behind them and will see their upcoming fixture as another opportunity to get three more points on the board.
“The Hatters have strength in depth across the pitch and although Louie Barry is now sidelined with injury, they will still fancy their chances of keeping their run going.
“Tranmere are in for a tough afternoon at Edgeley Park and head into the clash on the back of three defeats in a row. They are only above the drop zone on goal difference.”
Stockport County vs Tranmere Rovers prediction: 3-1
James Ray
“The Football League loves to throw up a big surprise just when you think you get a predictable game. Stockport County are on a fantastic unbeaten run and sit at the top of the table while Tranmere are right in the thick of it after three straight losses.
“You have to think the hosts win here though, and make pretty light work of it in the process.
“Losing Louie Barry for an extended spell is a big blow but the Hatters have the players across the board to keep succeeding in his absence. A comfortable win here should prove that.”
