Stockport County have appointed Jordan Smith as their new Head of Performance Analysis, as announced by their official club website.
Stockport County have brought in their new staff member from AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League. The Hatters are currently sat at the top of the League Two table.
Smith has been brought in as a direct replacement for Joppe Meulensteen, who has left Edgeley Park for a new challenge in his career at Championship side Middlesbrough.
Director of Football Simon Wilson has told the club website: “I’m delighted to welcome Jordan Smith to the club, who joins from Bournemouth. Jordan has been a part of two really progressive coaching staff units at Bournemouth and Swansea and now takes his first ‘Head of’ role to lead our provision across the club, but primarily supporting Dave and first team.
“We will ensure he will settle quickly into our group and allow him to build on the work we have done to date.”
New face at Stockport
Stockport will hope Smith can slot straight into the void left by Meulensteen’s exit as they aim to get promoted to League One this season.
He has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Leeds Beckett University and a MSc in Applied Sports Performance Analysis from the University of Worcester.
Smith had a year-long internship at Barnsley before joining Swansea City as an academy analyst. He then joined Bournemouth in January 2022 and has since been working with the Cherries as a first-team training analyst.
He has worked alongside Scott Parker, Gary O’Neil and more recently Andoni Iraola in Dorset but is now moving up north for a new chapter at Stockport.
This is an exciting time to be linking up with the Hatters as they look to claw themselves out of the fourth tier. They are in fine form at the moment and won 2-0 away at Crewe Alexandra last night to keep their momentum going.
