Salford City host Notts County in League Two on Friday night.
Notts County travel to Moor Lane bidding to compile more misery on an out-of-form Salford City side.
The Ammies have lost three consecutive League Two games, falling to a 2-1 loss at home to Walsall last time out. Defeats to Morecambe and Accrington Stanley preceded that, leaving Neil Wood’s side down in 18th, far away from the play-off spots they hope to be fighting for.
As for Notts County, they occupy 2nd place after a strong start to life back in the EFL.
That opening day defeat to Sutton United is well and truly a thing of the past with Luke Williams’ side going unbeaten in the league since. In this six-game run, they’ve claimed 14 points from a possible 18, drawing 1-1 with fellow promotion hopefuls mK Dons last weekend.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
“It’s been a tough run for Wood and Salford City and last time out, they were made to pay for a lack of that clinical edge. They were the dominant side for much of their game against Walsall but were unable to make the possession count.
“Against a team who can be as ruthless as Notts County, that has to be a concern for the hosts. A similar performance could leave them at risk of a fourth consecutive defeat but if they can start converting chances, the Ammies should find form sooner rather than later.
“This is a tough game for them though and they could come unstuck once again here. With County on the run that they’re on, I’m backing the visitors.”
Score prediction: Salford City 1-2 Notts County
“Salford City have had a bit of a tricky start and they are winless in their last three league outings. The pressure is on the hosts to start winning more games, otherwise questions may start being asked of the manager and the Ammies are no strangers to pulling the trigger on bosses.
“Notts County have adapted well to life back in League Two following their promotion from the National League and will fancy their chances of beating anyone at the moment.
“This isn’t an easy match for the Magpies but with the way they are going at the moment, they will be in confident mood.”
Score prediction: Salford City 0-1 Notts County
