Tranmere Rovers sweating on fitness of first-team trio ahead of Colchester United trip

Tranmere Rovers will assess Tom Davies, Joe Yarney and Luke Norris ahead of the weekend, as detailed on their official club website.

Tranmere Rovers are back in action this weekend against Colchester United away in League Two.

The Whites have made a slow start to the new season under Ian Dawes and will be eager to hit some form.

Their website says they will have to make checks on Davies, Yarney and Norris ahead of their upcoming fixture. Hull City loanee Jake Leake and Lee O’Connor are ruled out.

Tranmere hoping for fitness boost

Tranmere will be hoping their players can get back to 100% fitness as quick as can but won’t want to rush anybody in to risk making anything worse.

Davies, 31, injects useful experience into the side in defence and has been playing his football at Prenton Park since 2021. He has made 78 appearances for the Birkenhead outfit in all competitions to date and still has another couple of years left on his contract.

Yarney signed earlier this summer after spending last term in the National League at Oldham Athletic and he has since made three league appearances in this campaign for his new club as he looks to get to grips with life back in the Football League.

Norris was also snapped up in preparation for this campaign to bolster Tranmere’s options at the top end of the pitch. He arrived with decent pedigree after helping Stevenage gain promotion to League One under Steve Evans but the Whites are sweating over his fitness at the moment.

Dawes’ side lost 1-0 at home to Wrexham last weekend and will be keen to bounce back with a positive result against Colchester. The U’s have also only won once.
