Former Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer is keen on a return to The Valley, but a reunion looks unlikely, as per Darren Witcoop.
Charlton Athletic parted company with boss Dean Holden earlier this week.
The decision came after a run of four straight defeats in the league which left the Addicks with just three points from a possible 15.
Holden was unable to get the club heading in the right direction and whilst it could be argued some issues run deeper in the club, it cannot be argued the results weren’t good enough.
Now, the board must ensure they appoint the right person to take the club forward and recent reports state Michael Appleton and Danny Cowley are two candidates set to be interviewed this week.
Witcoop has also claimed Mark Hudson and Leam Richardson are either believed to have shown early interest or are of interest to the club. They are joined by Bowyer who is keen on a Charlton Athletic return, although at this stage it appears unlikely.

A key stage
As things stand it appears the Addicks will have to go through the final few days of the transfer window without a manager at the helm. That only makes things harder for them when trying to tempt players to the club and that may lead to them missing out on targets this week.
Bowyer spent three years in charge at the club and in that time guided them to a League One promotion in 2019.
He moved on to Birmingham City, but things didn’t quite work out there with the club quite stagnant around that time anyway.
Bowyer has been out of work since November 2021 and he would be a solid option to stabilise the club. However, at the moment it seems other options are likely to be pursued first.
Up next for Charlton Athletic is a home clash against fellow strugglers Fleetwood Town this weekend.
