Cheltenham Town close in on PL loan signing

Cheltenham Town are expected to complete the signing for young Bournemouth defender Owen Bevan on loan, as per Gloucestershire Live.

Bevan, 19, spent last season on loan in the National League with Yeovil Town.

The central defender played 31 league games in the fifth tier gaining valuable senior experience along the way.

The Welsh U21 international has worked his way through the Cherries’ academy becoming their U18 captain in 2021 and then going onto training regularly with their senior side last summer.

He’s yet to really make a mark on Bournemouth’s first team, and senior experience is vital to him doing that.

The latest reports suggest he is set to spend the season in the third tier with Cheltenham Town.

Who did Ipswich Town sign Panutche Camara from last summer?

An important year

The 19-year-old is making a fair step up from National League football and League One may take some adjusting. However, his promise is there to see and it will be hoped for Cheltenham Town that he adapts to the demands quickly as they try and maintain their third tier status this season.

It’s important Bevan plays often should this move finalise and it will be interesting to see what kind of impact he makes at this level.

Cheltenham Town are yet to get going this season losing three of their opening four league outings. They did well to survive last season in quite comfortable fashion, but it remains to be seen whether they’ve done enough to replicate that this time around.

With just under two weeks left of the window any final additions to their side will be welcomed as the club appear to be looking for another Premier League loanee to help them this during this campaign.

Up next for Cheltenham Town is a clash against Northampton Town at home this weekend.
