Barnsley boss Neill Collins has said that he is sure that Callum Styles is attracting interest from elsewhere at the moment.
Barnsley are keen to keep hold of the versatile midfielder between now and the end of the transfer window.
Styles, 23, spent last season on loan at Millwall in the Championship and is now back at Oakwell in League One.
Collins has provided this update on his future to Football Heaven: “There is a lot of sellable assets throughout the team. Callum is no different to any of those guys. He’s a really good player.
“He’s a player I’m sure a lot of team admirer but for now he’s a Barnsley player and someone that I really like and would love to keep hold of. As long as he continues to play the way he has been we’ll be happy and I’m sure that’ll just make more people interested.”
Barnsley hope to hold on
Keeping hold of Styles would be a big statement of intent by the Tykes if they were able to fend off interest from elsewhere. He is a top quality player at League One level and knows what it takes to get out of that division having been promoted back in 2019.
He penned a new deal with his current club before heading out to Millwall 12 months ago meaning he is under contract in South Yorkshire until the summer of 2025. That means Collins’ side are under no pressure to cash in on him anytime soon unless the right offer comes in for his services.
Barnsley signed the Hungary international back in 2018 after he caught their attention playing for Bury. He was on the books at Burnley as a youngster before joining the Shakers and went on to make 47 appearances during his time at Gigg Lane.
He has since played 130 matches for the Tykes since his switch and has found the net on 10 occasions. His situation remains up in the air at the moment and Collins will be hoping that the window shuts and Styles remains past the deadline.
Barnsley are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Bristol Rovers. They beat Port Vale 7-0 at home on the opening day.
