Fulham ‘have shown an interest’ in Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda, reports journalist Ian Mitchelmore.
Benda, 24, has been with Swansea City since arriving from Germany in 2017. He’s been in the Swans’ first-team since 2019 and has so far racked up 31 total appearances, with 21 of those coming in the Championship last time round.
Injury curtailed his campaign and now it looks like the German could be falling down the pecking order under new boss Michael Duff, whose side are expected to complete the loan signing of Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
And subsequently, it seems like Benda could be on the move with Mitchelmore revealing that Premier League outfit Fulham have taken a surprise interest in Benda.
Mitchelmore tweeted:
Carl Rushworth, Harrison Ashby and Mykola Kukharevich all expected to join Swansea ahead of their 23/24 opener against Birmingham. #Swans
Elsewhere, Fulham have shown interest in Steven Benda. May be one to keep an eye on later in the window or in January given his injury. #FFC

In 21 league outings last season, Benda kept five clean sheets and conceded 27 total goals. He’s spent time on loan with the likes of Peterborough United and Swindon Town in the past but remains relatively inexperienced, with just 73 career appearances to his name so far.
Benda to Fulham?
Fulham’s interest is certainly surprising. But Benda looks like he might be well out of favour at Swansea next season with Rushworth joining the likes of Andy Fisher who’s also a contender for the no.1 spot next season.
Benda would no doubt be playing a back up role at Craven Cottage should he sign and whether or not that would appeal to him remains to be seen. He’s not played that much football so far in his career and if he were to leave Swansea, he might want to do so for a team where he’d be playing regularly.
Still, the lure of the Premier League may be too difficult to turn down and so what happens here remains to be seen.
