Southampton set sights on Championship rival’s 23-year-old ace as potential Livramento replacement

Southampton have identified Norwich City full-back Max Aarons as a potential replacement for Tino Livramento, as per talkSPORT.

23-year-old right-back Aarons has been linked with a move away from Norwich City for some time now and with his deal expiring next summer, it could be that the door finally opens for him to move on this year.

As of yet, rumours are yet to develop into anything more serious but now, fresh claims of interest have emerged.

TalkSPORT claims that Southampton have eyes on Aarons as they prepare for the possibility of losing Tino Livramento. The former Chelsea man has been a target for Newcastle United and the Magpies are poised to make another move for him before deciding whether or not to move onto other targets.

His exit would open the door for Southampton to move for Aarons and they’re currently favourites for his signature, talkSPORT reported last night.

On the move?

With Norwich City still in the Championship, many might have thought that Aarons would get a move back to the Premier League upon his exit. However, with Southampton keen, he would still get a solid move.

The Saints will be right in the fight for automatic promotion this season so even if the move doesn’t mean Aarons gets top-flight football right away, there’s a good chance he’d be back there in the 2024/25 campaign with Russell Martin’s side among the favourites for promotion.

It looks as though a move could depend on how the Livramento situation pans out. Newcastle are still keen but Southampton are standing firm over their valuation, so if he doesn’t move away, that could bring an end to the Saints’ interest in Aarons this summer.
