QPR closing in on 23-year-old who reporter says has been a top target all summer

QPR are close to signing Wycombe Wanderers man Chris Forino, as per Darren Witcoop.

Forino, 23, played in 30 League One games last season for the Chairboys. He scored four and assisted one from central defence.

The London-born man has two full seasons experience in senior football now and has proven his talent in the third tier.

The recent arrival of Joe Low to Wycombe Wanderers has now seemingly opened the door for Forino to depart with QPR set to bring the youngster to Loftus Road.

Forino has been wanted by QPR for a while now and it appears they are going to land their top target.

A reunion

Gareth Ainsworth didn’t manage to hit the ground running at QPR last season, but he did stop the rot and keep the club up in the second tier.

Now he has his first opportunity to bring players into the squad and tailor it to suit his playstyle.

Forino knows how Ainsworth works and that should make the move quite an easy transition for the 23-year-old.

QPR still have a lot of work to do between now and the end of the summer window, but their arrivals so far have been quite positive and Forino will help their chances this season.

It will be hoped the deal for Forino can get over the line soon to allow the defender time to get used to his new teammates ahead of what will be a tough campaign for QPR.

It’s likely Ainsworth’s side will face hurdles this coming season, but despite his critics Ainsworth is a coach who knows how to grind results out his sides and for that reason alone they stand a decent chance of having a solid enough campaign this year.
