Coventry City have rejected Burnley’s offer for Gustavo Hamer which included Luke McNally and Bobby Thomas, as per TEAMtalk.
Hamer, 26, played in 44 Championship games for Coventry City last season. The midfield man scored an impressive 11 goals whilst assisting ten more.
His performances helped guide his team to the play-off final where they lost out on penalties.
The Dutch midfielder has had three full seasons at Coventry City and is now subject to Premier League interest.
Burnley are said to be offering a cash sum for Hamer in addition to a swap with McNally and Thomas making the move to the second tier. However, the Sky Blues have rejected it.
Holding on strong
McNally and Thomas would be two strong additions to Coventry City with McNally especially being highly sought after this summer.
The two defenders have the potential to be very solid options for Mark Robins’ side, but they appear to be holding out for more.
It seems it will take a lot to pry Hamer away from Coventry City and with the club looking to push for top six again, losing the Dutchman would be a blow and would require a replacement.
It would make sense for the Sky Blues to prepare for that eventuality now to ensure they can move quickly should Hamer leave to avoid them being left short in what is a crucial time for every club’s season.
Burnley’s intentions now remain to be seen and fans will have to wait to see if they return with another, improved offer.
The Championship season begins in less than three weeks time and Robins’ squad are preparing for their huge opening game against Leicester City next month.
