Burnley pushing to seal Coventry City deal, two players mentioned in possible swap

Burnley are trying to strike a deal with Coventry City for Gustavo Hamer and a deal could include Luke McNally or Bobby Thomas, as per the Daily Mail.

Coventry City midfielder Hamer has long been one of the Championship’s standout central midfielders and on plenty of occasions, he’s been linked with a move away from the Sky Blues.

That has proven the case again this summer. The Premier League could be the 26-year-old’s next destination and new details of Burnley’s pursuit have now emerged from the Daily Mail.

They report that Burnley are working towards sealing a £15m deal for the Coventry City star.

The Clarets are looking to come up with a structure that satisfies the Sky Blues and the offer will ‘likely’ include at least one player alongside cash. Luke McNally and Bobby Thomas are both of interest to Coventry, so they could be used in the deal.

Another star leaving?

When Coventry City fell just short of a remarkable rise to the Premier League, attention quickly turned to who could leave the club after a stunning season. Talisman Viktor Gyokeres and midfielder Hamer were among those widely tipped for moves away.

Swedish star Gyokeres has already moved on, joining Portuguese giants Sporting CP. He’s been replaced too, with Ellis Simms arriving from Everton on a permanent basis.

It could be that Hamer is the next to make a move to a higher level. He’s starred at Championship level for some time now and at 26, the time is right for him to step up. Coventry will still be able too get a good deal for the Brazilian-born midfielder and if one of rumoured targets McNally or Thomas can come in the other direction, it will prove solid business for the Sky Blues.
