Leeds United, Serie A side in advanced talks to sign Leeds United full-back

Serie A side in advanced talks to sign Leeds United full-back

According to a report by respected journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Serie A giants Roma are interested in Leeds United’s Danish defender Rasmus Kristensen.

25-year-old Kristensen arrived at Elland Road from Red Bull Salzburg last summer. Initially, he took the starting spot from Luke Ayling. His combative style was thought to be something that would endear him to the Whites’ fanbase but he struggled to win them over straight away in a tough season for the club.

Still, the 14-cap Danish international battled to win them over and fought his way back into contention after being dropped to the bench mid-season.

Kristensen’s debut season at Elland Road ended in relegation from the Premier League. However, in 26 appearances for the West Yorkshire side, he managed to score three goals – including back-to-back strikes against Wolves and Arsenal.

With Leeds United having to cut their cloth accordingly now they are in the Championship, Di Marzio says that Serie A outfit Roma are on Kristensen’s tail.

He says that the Giallorosso’s negotiations are ‘in an advanced state’ and that Kristensen has already said he wants the move to the Italian capital. Di Marzio adds that Kristensen will look ‘to find an agreement with Leeds for the loan’ in the coming days.

The respected Italian journalist said that Roma’s interest is a revisited one with the Italian side also keen on the Danish international before his Elland Road move.

What was the first game of the 2022/23 Championship campaign?

Another player moving on?

Leeds United will be a much different sight for their fans than the one that was relegated from the Premier League. A new manager will be in place, new owners are just awaiting EFL ratification and the squad will only have the bare bones left in place.

The big stars and big names will all be gone come August when their 2023/24 campaign kicks off against Birmingham City on August 12th. Kristensen looks likely to be one of those stars on the move, that is according to Di Marzio who says he has said he’s willing to sign for Roma.

Leeds fans will be hoping that the incoming changes will include a suitable replacement for Kristensen who can also play as a wing back.
