Coventry City manager Mark Robins has revealed that Jamie Allen and Liam Kelly are set to return after the international break.
Coventry have enjoyed a great run of form recently that’s seen them climb to 9th in the table following yesterday’s draw away at Wigan Athletic. The Sky Blues will have been disappointed to only pick up a point against the side who were previously bottom of the table heading into the clash, especially seeing as though they took the lead through Viktor Gyokeres’ 18th league goal of the season.
However, the draw leaves them now eight games unbeaten and just four points behind the play-off spots as it stands. And Robins told CoventryLive that he’s starting to welcome players back from injury, with both Allen and Kelly eyeing their return for the Stoke City clash.
Robins said:
“When we get to the international break we should have Jamie Allen back, so that starts to look at little bit better. I’m hoping he’ll be OK for Stoke but it might be just after that. We just have to wait and see.”
On Kelly, Robins continued:
“Hopefully it’s the week rather than the two weeks but we have an international break coming up and hopefully he’ll be available when we come back into training working into the Stoke game.”
Elsewhere, Kasey Palmer remains out of contention for a return against Stoke, whilst Fankaty Dabo was rested last night and Jonathan Panzo made his first return to the squad for over a month against Wigan.
Returning to full strength…
The international break may come at the wrong time for Coventry on the pitch considering the unbeaten run they’re on and the momentum they’ve gathered. But off the pitch it may come at the right time for Robins and those returning from injury.
The Sky Blues have just one game remaining before the international break, with a game v Stoke City on April 1st.
Those two weeks will hopefully see Allen and Kelly set to return to action, after they have missed the previous three and four games respectively. However, Kelly has suffered an injury impacted season, playing just 55 minutes of league action all season.
Coventry travel to Blackpool on Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm.
