Bradford City, Carlisle United and Forest Green Rovers have set their sights on Queen’s Park forward Grant Savoury ahead of the summer, as per Football Insider.
Bradford City and Carlisle United are firmly in the fight for promotion to League One. The Bantams are unbeaten in five and sit in 6th place, but the Cumbrians’ four-game winning streak has lifted them to 3rd, one point ahead of Northampton Town with a game in hand.
Now though, it seems they could be set to do battle in the transfer market too.
Football Insider claims the League Two duo are alongside League One struggles Forest Green Rovers in eyeing Queen’s Park star Grant Savoury ahead of the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has managed 12 goals and five assists in 36 games for the Scottish Championship side this season.
Savoury is under contract until the end of next season but scouts have been keeping a close eye on him ahead of the summer.
Savoury or sweet?
Savoury has certainly proven himself as a solid talent in Scotland’s lower leagues after leaving Celtic in the summer of 2020. The Dunblane-born ace has had a solid footballing education behind him after learning his trade with the Bhoys, and after proving himself with Peterhead and Queen’s Park, it could be the right time for a step up.
A move to the EFL would certainly present that, especially if it was to League One providing Bradford and/or Carlisle are successful in their promotion pushes.
Forest Green look almost certain to drop to League Two, but Scottish boss Duncan Ferguson could have the drawing power to tempt him to The New Lawn, though it remains to be seen whether or not the links are firmed up at any point.
