Sunderland host Sheffield United in the Championship tomorrow night.
Sunderland welcome Sheffield United to the Stadium of Light tomorrow. The Black Cats go into this one on the back of an impressive 1-0 win at Norwich City last time out which ended a run of three-straight defeats for Tony Mowbray’s side, who now sit in 10th place of the Championship table.
United meanwhile remain in 2nd, but their faltering form sees Middlesbrough sit just four points behind them in 3rd. The Blades lost 1-0 at home to Luton Town last time out having now lost four of their last six in the Championship.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Luke Phelps
“Sheffield United look like they’re really starting to lose confidence. They’ve had a tough run of fixtures and they’ve endured some disappointing results, but they still have the upper hand on Boro and so not all is lost just yet.
“Sunderland will fancy their chances in this one after their impressive win at Carrow Road. Despite having numerous injuries, Sunderland continue to impress and I really think they could win this one.
“But I’m a fan of Paul Heckingbottom – I think he has the tactical know-how to avoid another defeat, but I think a win will be too hard to come by.”
Score prediction: Sunderland 1-1 Sheffield United
James Ray
“Sunderland and Sheffield United remain firmly in the fight for the play-offs and automatic promotion respectively despite their recent blips. The Black Cats were winless in three before their Norwich win, while the Blades have lost four of their last six.
“For the latter though, their fate is still firmly in their own hands, and I think they could claim a big victory here.
“Heckingbottom’s side need a win to settle the nerves and under the lights in a tough away game at the Stadium of Light, I think they’ll have enough to get back to winnings ways. I’ll go for an away win, but it could be close.”
Score prediction: Sunderland 1-2 Sheffield United
