‘Nothing to write home about’ – Hull City v Burnley prediction: The72

Hull City host Burnley in the Championship tomorrow night.

It’s Hull City’s turn to take on the Championship’s runaway leaders. Burnley remain unbeaten in the league since November with their 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic last time out handing them a 13-point lead over Sheffield United in 2nd, with 3rd place Middlesbrough 17 points behind.

Hull meanwhile sit in 15th. The Tigers have top half ambitions under Liam Rosenior who’s impressed since taking over earlier in the campaign – his side have lost one of their last four in the league, drawing away at Coventry City in their last outing after beating West Brom.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Luke Phelps

“As ever, it’s very difficult to see a Burnley game in the Championship ending in anything other than a Burnley win. But Hull can take hope from the fact that Burnley have drawn a few games of late, and with Hull looking solid, it won’t be an easy game for Vincent Kompany’s side.

“Hull’s home form is nothing to write home about, with a point for Burnley in this game able to see them move to the top of the away standings in the Championship.

“I think this game will be tighter than most expect, but I’m going to back Burnley to claim the win.”

Score prediction: Hull City 1-2 Burnley

James Ray

“Hull have made themselves tough to beat at home in recent months, going unbeaten in their last seven at the MKM. And, with Burnley drawing back-to-back away games, I’ve got a feeling the spoils could be shared here.

“It feels odd going with anything other than a Burnley win given just how good they’ve been this season but with their draws in mind and Hull’s decent home record of late, I think the points will be split.

“The Clarets could easily cruise to a win but I’ll go for a score draw.”

Score prediction: Hull City 1-1 Burnley
