‘It doesn’t get much easier’ – Blackburn Rovers v Reading prediction: The72

Blackburn Rovers host Reading in the Championship tomorrow night.

Blackburn Rovers come into this midweek clash with Reading looking to get back to winning ways after becoming the latest play-off hopefuls to fall at the hands of Stoke City. The Potters defeated Rovers 3-2, with only late goals from Sam Gallagher and Ben Brereton Diaz giving the travelling faithful something to celebrate on a tough day at the office.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side remain in 5th place though, three points ahead of 7th placed Norwich City.

As for Reading, they sit in 16th place after a dismal run over recent months.

They fell to a 1-0 defeat to play-off chasing Millwall at the weekend, condemning them to a fifth loss in seven Championship games. Paul Ince’s side have lost five consecutive away games without scoring too, so the travelling support could be in for another long night.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“Blackburn have squandered their play-off hopes late on in seasons gone by and after falling to defeat against Stoke City last time out, they need to win here to settle any nerves and avoid collapsing once again in the latter stages of the season.

“At home to Reading, it doesn’t get much easier at the moment. The Royals have had strong moments this season but with five consecutive away losses and no goals scored, Blackburn need to win this.

“Rovers have slipped up before and Reading can’t be written off, but this should be a fairly routine home win.”

Score prediction: Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Reading

Who is this?

Luke Phelps

“I’m quickly losing hope for Reading this season. I don’t think they’ll go down but I don’t think they’ll claim many more points, which doesn’t bode so well going into the next season.

“Blackburn though have been very impressive of late. That defeat v Stoke will have been hard for them to take but they’ll fancy a return to winning ways against an out of sorts Reading side.

“I reckon Rovers will claim a routine home win in this one.”

Score prediction: Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Reading
