Burnley, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough could move for £25m man if they earn promotion, report claims

Burnley, Sheffield United, and Middlesbrough are all ‘considering’ a surprise summer swoop for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, claims an emerging report from GiveMeSport.

Scott, 19, has become one of the most in-demand youngsters in the country. The central midfielder has featured 35 times for Bristol City in the Championship this season, scoring once and assisting five more in what is his second full season in the Robins’ first-team.

He’s had Premier League suitors for a while now, with the most recent suggestions being that Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves fancy a summer move for the £25million-rated player. But GiveMeSport’s emerging report on Scott says that all of West Ham, Bright, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Newcastle United, Leicester City, and Spurs and Wolves, have enquired about the Englishman.

And the same report goes on to link the current top three in the Championship; Burnley, Sheffield United, and Middlesbrough. GiveMeSport say that the trio are ‘considering him an option in case they are promoted to the Premier League’.

Their report also says that Bristol City are hoping to see Scott’s eventual transfer fee rise to £30million.

Who is this?

A bold move…

Even if all of Burnley, Sheffield United, and Boro earn promotion, any of them moving for Scott seems very unrealistic. Neither of the three sides seem likely to spend that amount of money on a single player – Burnley may have the most amount of cash to spend in the summer but they’re currently under a transfer embargo.

Scott certainly seems likely to move on in the summer, but it seems very likely that he’ll go to a top end Premier League club – if not then a Wolves or West Ham-type team.

But if Burnley, United, and Boro do have an interest in the Bristol City man, then it speaks volumes about their ambitions.
