Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Rangers are all keen on a potential summer swoop for Swansea City forward Joël Piroe, claims an emerging report from Football League World.
Piroe, 23, joined Swansea City from PSV ahead of last season. The Dutchman went on to score 22 times and assist six goals in his maiden season in the Championship, having scored 13 in 33 so far this season.
The Swans currently sit in 17th place of the table. They endured a tough January transfer window which has quashed any hopes they had of a top-six finish this season, and with matters off the pitch seemingly troublesome, Football League World are claiming that Swansea could lose star man Piroe in the summer.
And their report links Championship duo Burnley and Middlesbrough, as well as Rangers with a potential summer move for Piroe.
The inevitable…
Piroe, given the fact that he’s out of contract in the summer and the fact that Swansea City are failing to really progress under Russell Martin, was always likely to be linked with a summer transfer.
And of course, the usual suspects of Burnley and Middlesbrough have been linked, along with Rangers who often crop up in these kind of Football League stories.
The link certainly makes sense given the fact that Burnley and Boro could both earn automatic promotion this season, and both may want a striker ahead of potential Premier League campaigns next season.
Piroe’s season hasn’t been quite as prolific as his last, but he’s still impressed and for many teams in the country, he’d be a big signing.
It’ll definitely be a story to watch as we approach the summer transfer window.
