Birmingham City team news and predicted XI to face Watford: Midfielder doubtful, trio remain sidelined

Birmingham City head to Watford in the Championship tonight.

Birmingham City face Watford in what is both sides’ second Championship clash in four days, with Watford having lost v QPR on Saturday and with Blues having beaten Rotherham United.

John Eustace’s side picked up the much-needed win at St Andrew’s to halt a run of five games without a win – Birmingham City are now 10 points above the drop zone as we move further into the business end of the campaign.

Watford currently sit in 11th place of the table and have won just one of their last seven in the league.

Birmingham City team news

Birmingham City look set to be without Dion Sanderson, Troy Deeney, and Gary Gardner for tonight’s game, with the latter two expected back after the international break.

And Blues also look set to be without midfielder Krystian Bielik who picked up a nasty facial injury in the last outing v Rotherham, which Eustace said resulted in Bielik’s two front teeth being knocked out.

Juninho Bacuna is set to serve the second of a two-game suspension for picking up 10 yellow cards in the Championship this season.

What shirt number does George Hall wear?

Eustace fielded a somewhat new-look Birmingham City side last time out, with the formation of which debated. There was definitely two in front of the defence in Alfie Chang and Bielik, but with Bielik likely to miss out, expect Jordan James to slot into that central position.

And it should be an unchanged line up given how well Blues played at the weekend, but there could be some rotational changes if players are lacking match fitness – Scott Hogan and Hannibal Mejbri started on the bench v Rotherham and so both could be fit to start tonight.

The game kicks off at 7:45pm.
