‘Could be a close one’ – Rotherham United v Preston North End prediction: The72

Rotherham United host Preston North End in the Championship tomorrow night.

Rotherham United welcome Preston to South Yorkshire tomorrow evening, for what should be an exciting clash in the Championship.

The Millers suffered defeat v Birmingham City last time out, halting a run of three games unbeaten for Matt Taylor’s side who remain in 20th place of the table, but with an eight-point gap to the drop zone.

Preston meanwhile sit in 12th after they picked up an important win over Cardiff City on Saturday. Ryan Lowe’s side find themselves just seven points outside the top-six and are unbeaten in their last six in the Championship.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Luke Phelps

“Very tough game to predict this one. I’m a fan of both sides’ managers and of how each team plays, and I think both have done well in 2023 so far despite Rotherham being down near the bottom of the table.

“Saturday’s defeat was a rather unexpected one for Rotherham but I expect them to bounce back and make things very difficult for Preston tomorrow night.

“Preston though are one of the best travellers in the division and with Lowe’s men in form, I’m fancying them to pick up another huge three points.”

Score prediction: Rotherham United 0-1 Preston North End

Who is this?

James Ray

“Rotherham have picked up some big wins of late to put some distance between themselves and the drop, although they will have been disappointed to lose to Birmingham City at the weekend.

“They’ve been pretty strong at home though, so I can see them taking something against stern opposition in Preston North End. The Lilywhites have been good on the road this season but they’re winless in three away from Deepdale, drawing their last two.

“Either side could snatch all three points and this could be a close one, but I’m going to predict a score draw.”
