‘A huge disappointment’ – Millwall v Swansea City prediction: The72

Millwall host Swansea City in the Championship tomorrow.

Millwall welcome Swansea to The Den in a pivotal clash for both clubs but for very different reasons.

The Lions enjoyed a successful weekend as they climbed up to 6th place and back into the play-off spots following a 1-0 win away against Reading at the weekend. Gary Rowett’s side bounced back from defeat against Norwich City previously to leapfrog their play-off rivals after the Canaries lost at home to Sunderland.

At the other end of the table, Swansea City suffered a fourth defeat in five games, dropping to 17th place after they lost 3-1 to Middlesbrough on Saturday. The Swans now sit bottom of the form table across the last five games, with Russell Martin’s future further under the spotlight.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Cameron Winstanley

“Anything but a win for Millwall will be a huge disappointment after the Lions took back control of the play-off chase.

“With Swansea completely out of sorts and Martin’s role coming under increasing pressure, it’s not a trip that they’ll be looking forward to, matched with Millwall’s home record this season and confidence booster from the weekend.

“I don’t hold much hope for Swansea in this one, the Lions will smell blood and will look to be out of the traps early on their way to victory.”

Score prediction: Millwall 3-1 Swansea City

Who is this?

James Ray

“Given the dismal run Swansea are on, Millwall have to take all three points here.

“Swansea have endured a pretty terrible 2023 so far and you get the feeling there needs to be a big evaluation of what direction they’re heading in come the end of the season. Martin has drawn plenty of praise over the course of his tenure but their drop off this season has been terrible, while questions must be asked of the club hierarchy as well.

“For Millwall, this is a must-win, and I can see them claiming a fairly routine win.”

Score prediction : Millwall 2-0 Swansea City
