Sheffield Wednesday beat Portsmouth 1-0 in League One yesterday.
Sheffield Wednesday made the long journey down to Fratton Park to face an improved Portsmouth side managed by John Mousinho.
It promised to be a tough game for the Owls who played the last part of the game with ten men after Dominic Iorfa’s sending off. But Josh Windass’ 11th minute goal proved enough to win the game for Darren Moore’s side who’ve now won their last five.
And after the game, club captain and long-standing fan favourite Barry Bannan sent this message to the Wednesday supporters:
Get in there another massive 3 points proud to be a part of this amazing group of lads 🦉💙 character and attitude to win is amazing 👏 fans thank you and safe journey home 👍 pic.twitter.com/K1DxL4FLEo

Bannan made his 29th league appearance of the season yesterday. He’s so far scored five and assisted eight more in League One this season, playing a key role for the club once again as the Owls open up a two-point gap on Plymouth Argyle who lost 3-0 against Barnsley yesterday.
On the way up?
Sheffield Wednesday are really starting to assert themselves at the top of the League One table. They’ve become stronger and stronger as the season’s gone on and Bannan has enjoyed another impressive campaign with the Owls – his eighth at the club.
Moore’s side now have just 12 games standing between them and the end of the campaign. They could yet wrap up promotion before the final game of the campaign, but the Wednesday players and Moore won’t be getting too carried away just yet, with some difficult games on their horizon.
Wednesday return to action v Bolton Wanderers on Friday.
