Luton Town host Swansea City in the Championship tomorrow.
Luton Town sit in 6th place of the Championship table going into this weekend, where they face a Swansea City side who’ve won just one of their last seven in the league, and currently sit in 15th. But ahead of this one, Luton have a few defensive injuries to contend with.
In the last outing v Millwall, Gabriel Osho was forced off in the second half with a muscular injury, whilst Reece Burke missed out completely with a groin injury.
Speaking to the club ahead of this weekend, Edwards said of the pair:
“Defensively, we’ve got few few niggles. We’ll see how they are again tomorrow. Obviously we’ve got Burkey and Gabe, but we’ve not made any decision on them yet. Normally I like to do by Friday, but sometimes you give things to the day just to try and see what the right situation is.”
Elsewhere, club captain Sonny Bradley made a return to the matchday squad v Millwall after spending several weeks on the sidelines. He didn’t come off the bench though, and asked whether or not he has to ease Bradley back in with minutes here and there, Edwards said:
“Not necessarily. That obviously would be the case normally, but the players these days are very fit and once they’ve been back in training for a while, there’s a lot more science behind it these days.”
A big game…
The visit of Swansea City this weekend presents Luton with another chance to claim three points. The Swans are out of form and running low on confidence it seems, after their well-documented struggles in the January transfer window.
For the Hatters though, a few defensive injuries like they have now could make things difficult. Swansea still have some really talented attacking players in names like Joel Piroe and so Edwards would’ve been hoping to have a fully fit squad to choose from.
Bradley could potentially make a return to the starting XI here, given Edwards’ comments on the player, but it remains to be seen whether or not the 31-year-old will start.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 3pm.
