Huddersfield Town host Coventry City in the Championship at the weekend.
Huddersfield come into the weekend sitting in 22nd place and four points off safety, after they were beaten 4-0 by runaway league leaders Burnley last weekend.
Neil Warnock had returned to the managerial dugout with a 2-1 win against Birmingham City on his second debut as Terriers’ boss, but the might of the table toppers proved too much last time out.
Coventry on the other hand are enjoying a five-game unbeaten run, which has lifted them up to 10th place – just five points behind the play-off spots.
The Sky Blues endured a frustrating midweek goalless draw away at Preston North End to end a run of three consecutive wins.
Ahead of the game, a couple of our writers offer their predictions for the match…
Cameron Winstanley
“Warnock knows better than anyone in the division what it takes to be successful in the Championship, and turning the John Smith’s Stadium into a fortress will be key to the Terriers’ safety.
“Huddersfield proved against Birmingham what they’ve shown all season, that they’re immensely stronger at home than they are away – the Terriers have the least amount of away points in the league.
“Likewise, Coventry aren’t strong travellers with only 17 points coming from 16 games on the road, but Robins knows these are the kind of games they’ll have to dig deep and find a result to trouble the top six. Coventry’s current momentum should be enough to see them leave with something.”
Score prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Coventry City
James Ray
“These sort of games are winnable for Huddersfield. Yes, Coventry are formidable foes and they’ve got their own ambitions still intact for this season, but at home, the Terriers need to make the home advantage count.
“Keeping Viktor Gyokeres at bay will be crucial for Warnock’s backline and they’ll have to make the most of their chances if they’re to snatch something here.
“Coventry are the favourites, but I think that Huddersfield might nick something here. It could be close, but it would be a huge result for the hosts.”
Score prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-0 Coventry City
