Sheffield Wednesday host Peterborough United in League One this Saturday.
Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping another victory can further tighten their grip on the League One title this weekend.
The Owls’ remarkable form means they are now three points clear of 2nd placed Plymouth Argyle with a game in hand. Darren Moore’s side set a new club record with a 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic, moving to 20 League One games undefeated.
As for Peterborough United, they were held to a 0-0 draw by the Addicks in midweek. They’re still in 8th but are now eight points away from the play-off spots, so it will take a strong end to the season if they’re to break into the top-six.
Posh’s rampant 5-2 win over Plymouth last weekend highlighted just what they’re capable of, so Wednesday will be wary of their opponents.
Here, a handful of our writers issue their score predictions for the tie…
James Ray
“Sheffield Wednesday’s remarkable run of form has them in pole position heading into the closing months of the season and despite the threat Peterborough United possess, I can’t see them troubling the Owls too much here.
“Posh have been leaky at the back at times this season and given the hosts’ attacking firepower, they should have enough to overcome Ferguson’s play-off chasing side here.
“With every passing week, Wednesday are looking more and more like champions. They can’t afford to think like that, of course. The title race is still very much alive, but they do look a cut above the rest at the moment, and that could show tomorrow.”
Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 Peterborough United
Luke Phelps
“Peterborough are an interesting one. You never know whether the’re going to conceded five or score five, so for Sheffield Wednesday, this one is certainly a tricky game.
“But the Owls are starting to really pull clear in the automatic promotion spots. They’re 20 points in front of Posh and that’s not by chance – the Owls are the league’s team to beat, and most importantly, they’re consistent.
“I think this will be another win for the Wednesday.”
Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Peterborough United
