Barnsley midfielder could make return v Bristol Rovers but duo set to miss out once again

Barnsley travel to Bristol Rovers in League One this weekend.

Barnsley head down to Bristol to face Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers on Saturday, with the Tykes looking to extend their current winning form. Michael Duff’s side have won their last four in the league and are unbeaten in seven, winning six of those to find themselves in 6th place of the table as things stand.

And ahead of this weekend, Duff revealed to Barnsley Chronicle that Josh Benson is back in full training and available for selection on Saturday.

Duff also gave updates on Robbie Cundy and Brad Collins, saying of Cundy:

“He’s on the grass and we’re hoping he will join in training on Friday or more likely Monday. It’s another positive.”

Duff continued:

“Brad is still a couple of weeks away. He’s had a week off. His girlfriend has had a baby and congratulations to them. It might put him back a little bit in terms of conditioning.”

Whose tenure was the longest (in terms of games overseen)?

Back at the right time…

For Barnsley, there’s only 15 games of the season left. They’re hitting form at the right time and they look to be getting stronger and stronger with each passing fixture, and having some key players in Benson, Cundy, and Collins back in time for a potential play-off bout is good news.

Duff will want players like Collins especially to be back on the pitch sooner rather than later, as he offers the team experience and leadership, and at a very crucial point in the season.

Elsewhere, Benson and Cundy’s returns will give Duff some much-needed depth going into the business end of the season, with another tough task in Bristol Rovers awaiting them this weekend.
