What’s former Coventry City and Sheffield United man Marc McNulty up to these days?

Coventry City and Sheffield United both had Scottish striker Marc McNulty on their books during his time on these shores.

McNulty, now 30, made a name for himself in his native Scotland, coming through Livingston’s youth ranks and into their first-team. His tally of 46 goals and 23 assists in 113 games caught English attention, with Sheffield United swooping for the striker in 2014.

His time with the Blades didn’t quiet yield the same success though. McNulty impressed with 12 goals and eight assists in 34 games while on loan with Portsmouth but endured a tough stint with Bradford City.

Overall, he remained at Bramall Lane for three years, netting 14 goals and laying on five assists before leaving for Coventry City on a free transfer in 2017. It was with the Sky Blues where McNulty really flourished in England football too.

In his only season with the club, the striker managed a stunning 39 goal contributions in 52 games (28 goals, 11 assists). He helped the Sky Blues win promotion to League One but he would leave that summer, being snapped up by Championship side Reading in 2018.

But what’s McNulty up to now?

After leaving Coventry City, McNulty would struggle. Game time with the Royals was minimal, managing only one goal in his 17 appearances for the club. He managed a strong return of 12 goals and seven assists after returning to Scotland on loan with Hibernian, but temporary stints with Sunderland and Dundee United didn’t yield much.

Eventually, McNulty was released by Reading prior to the start of the current season.

He spent has been out of the game until recently too. McNulty was only snapped up in January, with USL Championship side Orange County bringing the striker in ahead of their new campaign. America’s second-tier begins on March 12th and McNulty will be hoping to revive his goalscoring abilities to become a hit Stateside.

McNulty will be managed by Richard Chaplow at Orange County, a name that will be familiar with EFL fans. Chaplow played for Burnley, West Brom, Preston, Southampton and Millwall and has been OCSC boss since 2021.
