‘We could see a surprise’ – Sheffield United v Tottenham Hotspur prediction: The72

Sheffield United host Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup tomorrow night.

Sheffield United made a much-needed return to winning ways at the weekend ahead of Spurs’ visit to Bramall Lane.

The Blades had lost two consecutive Championship games before bouncing back with a narrow 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday. That should settle the nerves at Bramall Lane, although they’re in for a tough test on Wednesday night.

Spurs have now won four of their last five Premier League games to move above Newcastle United and into the top four. They’ve had some tough moments this season though, and the hosts will be hopeful of unsettling them at home and pulling off one of the shocks of the round.

Now, ahead of the game, a handful of our writers have issued their score predictions for the tie…

James Ray

“Under the floodlights and with the Bramall Lane faithful behind them, Sheffield United should be right up for this one.

“If they’re on their game, they could really unsettle Spurs here. We’ve seen the North Londoners slip up before and if the Blades can start well, we could see a surprise.

“That said, Spurs have looked far more assured in recent weeks and with the star power in their ranks, they should certainly have enough to emerge victorious. I think there could be a nervous moment or two, but Conte’s men should progress.”

Score prediction: Sheffield United 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur

What club does John Lundstram play for now?

Luke Phelps

“Sheffield United and Spurs have played out some exciting game sin recent seasons. There’s often goals and United have upset Spurs once or twice, and with the Blades doing well in the Championship this season, expect another tough game for Tottenham.

“But I expect Spurs to be well up for winning the FA Cup this season after losing ground in the Premier League, so I reckon they’ll put out a full-strength side for this one.

“With that said, I’m going to have to back Spurs to win this one, but narrowly.”

Score prediction: Sheffield United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur
