The latest on George Hall’s Birmingham City future: Will Leeds United make a January swoop?

Birmingham City youngster George Hall is wanted by Leeds United ahead of the January transfer window.

Hall, 18, made his Championship debut for Birmingham City last season, featuring twice in the league.

This time round under John Eustace, Hall has racked up 17 Championship outings with a goal and an assist to his name so far.

But reports linking him with a move to Leeds United are rife as we approach the January transfer window.

The latest on Hall to Leeds United…

Last month, Football Insider claimed that Birmingham City were expecting to sell Hall in the upcoming January transfer window, and that Leeds United were leading the pursuit.

But this week, BiminghamLive reporter and Blues exert Brian Dick has revealed that Birmingham City are determined to keep Hall beyond Janaury.

The youngster has a year-and-a-half left on his current contract at St Andrew’s.

And Birmingham City remain in the midst of a takeover saga, which Dick predicts will greatly impact upon the kind of transfer activity that Blues will do in January.

The uncertainty could see them deflect any incoming transfer attention, simply to keep matters from becoming even more complicated.

It’s said that Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has already identified the areas he wants to bolster in January. And with his side struggling near the foot of the table, he may prioritise signings that he thinks will help his side beat the drop.

Hall would definitely be a signing for the future and so he might not be a priority for Leeds in January.

But there’s definitely interest there and nothing can be ruled out. For now though, Hall is at Birmingham City, and the club might need to think about extending his stay.
