Championship club braced for transfer bid from Crystal Palace, report reveals

Bristol City are ‘bracing themselves’ for a bid from Crystal Palace for Antoine Semenyo, reports BristolLive.

Semenyo, 22, had a standout season with Bristol City last time round, recording 20 goal contributions under Nigel Pearson.

The Ghana international then became the target of some notable teams, including West Ham and Celtic, with Middlesbrough mentioned more recently.

Yesterday though, The Sun revealed that Crystal Palace are keen on the attacker and now, BristolLive are reporting that the Robins are readying themselves for an imcoming bid from the Eagles.

Palace are ‘readying’ a £12million bid for Semenyo, as per BristolLive, whose report goes on to reveal how Palace have been tracking Semenyo’s progress for ‘several years’.

Semenyo is out of contract at Ashton Gate next summer and so now might be the best time for Bristol City to sell up, take the cash and perhaps reinvest this summer after their difficult start to the campaign.

Pearson dealt a setback…

Losing Semenyo this month will come as a blow for Pearson. But losing the player for free next summer would’ve been criminal, and so Bristol City might be coming out of this with a good deal if they can claim £12million on Semenyo.

His form last season might warrant a higher transfer fee, though Semenyo’s summer injury might have seen his transfer value decrease somewhat, with the player having yet to make an appearance this season.

With a couple of weeks left in this summer’s transfer window, Pearson will surely be hoping that he can spend some incoming Semenyo millions on bolstering his side, who sit in 23rd place of the table as it stands.

Up next for the Robins is a home game v Luton Town tomorrow night.
