Cardiff City showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur youngster

Cardiff City are interested in Tottenham Hotspur striker Kion Etete, according to WalesOnline.

Cardiff City want to bring in two new strikers this summer, with one on loan and the other on a permanent deal. Etete would fall into the latter category with Spurs willing to let the 20-year-old leave the club, and the Bluebirds are said to be monitoring the 20-year-old ahead of making a move.

Steve Morison opted for Max Watters to lead the line against Norwich City at the weekend, with Mark Harris coming off the bench in the second half. Isaak Davies would also normally provide back-up, but he is currently out with injury as things stand.

Derby County and Cardiff City set to miss out on Manchester United prospect

Etete would provide competition for places up top, and although likely to be a long-term option in South Wales, he could come straight into the first-team fold if a deal was secured.

Cardiff City aren’t the only ones who are keen on the Tottenham Hotspur forward however, with the report stating that he has a lot of admirers in the Championship. Although the other clubs interested aren’t mentioned by WalesOnline.

A move that could work out for all parties…

Etete has experience in the EFL after starting his career with Notts County and loan spells away from Spurs with Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town. This will stand him in good stead in making the step up to the Championship.

At just 20 years old, he is someone that can go on and have a long career at Cardiff City. But he may be needed to make an impression sooner given their lack of options in forward areas.

With Etete available to leave permanently this summer, it does bode well for the Bluebirds’ pursuit of the player. However, it remains to be seen which other clubs are interested and who can offer the striker the most attractive terms.
