Hartlepool United boss reveals stance on possible move for League One midfielder

Hartlepool United boss Paul Hartley has ruled out the chances of returning for Burton Albion midfielder Bryn Morris this summer.

Hartlepool United brought Morris to Victoria Park back in January when they were under the management of Graeme Lee.

Though he only signed on loan until the end of the season, the option to make the deal permanent on a two-year deal was included in the agreement with League One side Burton Albion. Now, new boss Hartley has revealed his position on a possible return.

Speaking with the Hartlepool Mail, the Pools manager has said they will not be looking to bring Morris back this summer.

He insisted that he has his ‘own type of player’ that he wants to recruit ahead of the new season, confirming that he has other targets. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

“At this moment in time it’s not something that’s at the top of my list.

“I’ve got other targets. Bryn was a player that was in the building before I came in. I’ve got to bring my own type of player in who I want to bring in.”

What now for Morris?

The Hartlepool-born 26-year-old manager one goal and one assist in 11 outings for his hometown club over the second half of last season. Injury limited his involvement though and now, a return is off the cards.

He still has a year remaining on his contract with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Burton Albion, so it remains to be seen just what the League One side decide to do with the midfielder.

Morris played just 10 times for the Brewers last season, so Hasselbaink will need to decide if the former Middlesbrough youngster figures in his plans moving forward upon the confirmation that a return to Hartlepool United is not happening.
