‘We will keep looking’ – Kompany’s transfer admission suggests Burnley could make more new signings

Vincent Kompany says Burnley‘s summer business may not be over.

Kompany took over the Clarets earlier this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

Their summer transfer window so far can be deemed successful with the addition of players like Scott Twine and Luke McNally adding quality to their squad.

Kompany is the ideal boss to have in situations like this. His reputation and relationship with Manchester City has allowed him to add two City youngsters to his ranks already.

Burnley fans can be pleased with how their club have handled the summer window so far, and Kompany says there may be more to come.

Speaking to Burnley Express, the Belgian said:

“We will keep looking at the market and see how we can strengthen, but at the same time, my first idea is to look within our team and plug the gaps where we need to.

“There is a good vibe about it, so we want to maintain that and see how we can strengthen the team.”

This is a very promising statement from Kompany. The Belgian boss clearly has faith in his current squad to deliver, but he won’t rule out further additions.

An immediate bounce back?

Burnley will enter this season as one of the favourites to win promotion back to the Premier League.

But the competition is getting fierce – many teams have promotion ambitions and it definitely won’t be easy for anyone.

However, Burnley fans can be relaxed about their club’s preparations. They’ve made some strong signings and their squad at the moment looks more than capable of mounting a promotion push.

This doesn’t mean they can rest on their laurels though. The new Championship season is edging closer and the opening game against Huddersfield Town won’t be an easy task.

The 36-year-old manager is about to experience his first season as a manager in England and he’ll be hoping to recreate the consistency he had at Anderlecht, finishing 3rd in the league on tow occasions.

It may take some time to adapt, but patience is key should Burnley want success under Kompany this season and beyond.
