Sheffield Wednesday forward Lee Gregory is not a target for Championship club Huddersfield Town, a report from Yorkshire Live has said.
Huddersfield Town were linked with Sheffield Wednesday‘s talismanic striker earlier this week. The Star stated that the Terriers had identified him as a target as Carlos Corberan bids to add to his ranks this summer.
The link comes after a strong season of League One football for Gregory in which he netted 17 goals in 39 games across all competitions.
However now, a report from Yorkshire Live has moved to state that Huddersfield Town are not interested in the striker.
The latest update will come as reassuring news to Wednesday fans, despite the fact that it has been widely reported that Gregory has no interest in entertaining a move away from Hillsborough this summer.
Ready for another promotion push…
After missing out in the play-offs last time around, Gregory and Sheffield Wednesday will be determined to make a return to the Championship in the 2022/23 campaign.
Having Gregory on board for said push will be important for Darren Moore too, even if Michael Smith’s arrival.
The Sheffield-born striker has 51 goals and 15 assists to his name in 114 League One appearances and his experience at Championship level will always play an important role on and off the pitch.
A strike force including Gregory and Smith will be an unnerving prospect for third-tier defences, so Wednesday will be hoping that things stay as they are and no serious interest emerges in the former before the start of a new campaign.
As for Huddersfield Town, it remains to be seen if they have other striking options on their radar.
